Dan Tani is a retired NASA astronaut and engineer who participated in two major spaceflights, logging more than 131 days in space. He first launched in December 2001 as a mission specialist on STS-108 aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour, a mission focused on resupplying the International Space Station (ISS) and swapping the resident crews.
 
His second flight began in October 2007, when he launched on STS-120 to serve as a Flight Engineer for Expedition 16. During this four-month stay on the ISS, Tani performed numerous robotic operations and conducted numerous spacewalks.
