Anthony “AO” Oropeza: One of Kansas City’s Premier Sports Artist
One of Kansas City’s premier sports artists, Anthony AO Oropeza’s work has caught the eye of thousands of sports fans, athletes, sports lovers, and media across the country for almost a decade.
His gritty, raw, dynamic style and ability to capture the power of athletes on canvas, especially athletes of his beloved Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs, has put him on the sports art map across the country. AO has original artwork in multiple states across the country as he is widely sought after by corporations, sports organizations and private collectors alike.
Even before it was finished, AO’s first “Patrick Mahomes” <https://aoart5.com/patrickmahomes/> original painting found itself in the New York Times (2018). Since then, AO’s stock and his reputation as a serious dedicated sports artist keeps increasing with every project.
Along with the New York Times, AO’s work has been featured in multiple KC newspapers, on every local Kansas City TV news station, and he has been interviewed on multiple podcasts including Rounding the Bases by Royals on-the-field announcer Joel Goldberg.
Known for donating countless comic book and sports art for a number of local fundraisers throughout the years, for the past five years AO has also helped raise tens of thousands of dollars per year for local schools and charitable organizations in Kansa City with his ever so popular Live-Paintings. In 2023, AO was a proud Event Sponsor to Kansas City’s own Thundergong (http://www.thundergong.org) fundraising event for amputees in need put on by actor Jason Sudeikis and Billy Brimblecom Jr. of Steps of Faith Foundation (https://www.stepsoffaithfoundation.org) .
While not able to have public art shows throughout the year due to work schedule, AO is honored to be a returning creator to KC’s Planet Come-on. Art lovers of all kinds are all invited to visit his soon to be KC sports art destination studio located in beautiful downtown Overland Park.
