COVID RESPONSE

Planet Comicon Kansas City (PCKC) looks forward to welcoming all of Planet nation  back to the show August 20 – 22, 2021.

Planet Comicon Kansas City comes with enhanced health, safety and hygiene procedures in place. Please note that any public location where people are present provides an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19. All persons present at PCKC, including but not limited to, attendees, guests, exhibitors, volunteers, contractors and staff voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

Currently, per directive of the Mayor of Kansas City, Missouri, masks are mandatory indoors for all persons, vaccinated or unvaccinated, in the Kansas City Convention Center, including all attendees, guests, exhibitors, volunteers, contractors and staff at Planet Comicon Kansas City. Per the Mayor’s reinstated mask order (effective August 2 – August 28, 2021) people inside the Convention Center are required to wear facial coverings that securely cover a person’s nose and mouth and remain affixed in place without the use of one’s hands.

Per the order, limited exceptions that allow for the temporary removal of the mask will be allowed:

  • Designated dining areas (when actively eating and drinking)
  • Photo Ops (masks must be worn while waiting in line and after the photo op, but may be temporarily removed for the photo itself)
  • Celebrity Tables (masks must be worn indoors at PCKC but may be temporarily removed if the guest is offering photo opportunities at their table; this information will be available at the guest’s table. This applies to celebrity guests and to creator guests and is at the guest’s discretion.)

Planet Comicon Kansas City is held at the Kansas City Convention Center, owned by the City of Kansas City, Missouri (KCMO). The Kansas City Convention Center has achieved STAR™ accreditation from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC), the industry’s gold standard in accreditation that recognizes a higher standard for proper cleaning protocols, disinfection techniques and work practices to combat biohazards and infectious disease.

PCKC continues to receive guidance from local health authorities and officials. Planet Comicon Kansas City anticipates that this mask mandate will be in place during the event. If the mask mandate changes or is rescinded, the policies in place for PCKC may change.

PCKC will continue to update fans through social media, our newsletter and this website for information related to health and safety protocols and the show.
