Planet Comicon Kansas City prepares for liftoff!
Three-day event celebrates superheroes, comics, creators and pop culture in return to Bartle Hall
KANSAS CITY, MO (August 19, 2021) – Planet Comicon Kansas City, the largest and longest-running comic book convention and pop culture event in the region, makes its triumphant return to Bartle Hall this weekend. The three-day show, scheduled for August 20-22, returns for the first time in over two years, welcoming celebrities, comic creators, authors, artists, voice actors, cosplayers, wrestlers and more to downtown Kansas City!
“When we left Bartle Hall on March 31, 2019, we had no idea it would be this long until we returned,” said Planet Comicon Founder and CEO Chris Jackson. “People have been through so much over the last two years and we are committed to providing a safe, fun, and entertaining celebration of pop culture fandom at Planet Comicon Kansas City. We can’t wait to open the doors once again.”
Planet Comicon Kansas City will welcome a wide-variety of celebrity guests, including stars from Supernatural, Cobra Kai, Stranger Things, Entourage, Disney princesses and more. Legendary comic creator Roy Thomas will also be one of the featured creators visiting the show.
With nearly eight football fields worth of exhibit space, comics, collectibles, merchandise, programming, gaming and family-friendly entertainment, Planet Comicon gives fans an opportunity to enjoy their favorite fandoms while browsing the best in comic books, fantasy, sci-fi and superhero television and film. Planet After Dark events in and around the downtown area will give guests the chance to enjoy additional activities after the show closes.
Planet Comicon will also be working with the Kansas City, Missouri Health Department to offer a free, walk-in Covid Vaccination Clinic on Friday and Saturday of the event. No insurance or appointment is necessary and the clinic is open to anyone, including the public. No ticket to Planet Comicon is required. The vaccination clinic will run from 11am – 4pm on Friday and 9am – 2pm on Saturday in Room 1501 at Bartle Hall. Anyone who gets vaccinated will receive a free, officially licensed Baby Yoda, the Child Mandalorian pin. Masks will be mandatory for everyone indoors at Planet Comicon Kansas City.

The Kansas City Convention & Entertainment Facilities is a Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC) STAR™ facility, having received the gold standard in accreditation for prepared facilities and Planet Comicon continues to work with and monitor local health guidelines and recommendations in preparation for the show.
