A variety of events and activities allow fans to put their superpowers to work during the annual pop culture extravaganza April 28-30
KANSAS CITY, MO — While fans from across Kansas City and the region gather to see the biggest stars in pop culture and comics at Planet Comicon Kansas City, their superpowers will also be at work making a difference in the community!
Planet Comicon, Kansas City’s biggest fan extravaganza, returns to Bartle Hall April 28-30, with a star-studded lineup featuring first-time guests and returning fan favorites and fans will have the opportunity to get involved with a variety of activities that make an impact on the Kansas City community.
Community Blood Center – The Community Blood Center will be looking for 500 donors on Saturday and Sunday to collect blood for area hospitals’ needs. Treating patients in nearly 60 area hospitals, Community Blood Center sends out almost 3,600 units of blood each week and fans at Planet Comicon Kansas City can get involved by signing up to donate right on-site!
Harvesters Community Food Network – Star Trek fans will love this interactive exhibit, which includes Star Trek Crewman and models of Star Trek ships, as the Star Trek USS Valiant NCC-74210 looks to collect 500 lbs of food for Harvesters Community Food Network! Planet Comicon Kansas City guests can bring a nonperishable food item to Planet Comicon and receive a special award for their donation!
Kansas City Zombie Walk for Hunger – Who said zombies were bad? Zombies understand hunger more than most and the Kansas City Zombie Walk for Hunger is an annual event that raises money to help feed the less fortunate. This year in Planet Comicon Kansas City’s Planet Entertainment Zone (PEZ) they will organize an undead march through the convention! Bring five nonperishable items or consider a cash donation to be a part of the special walk! More information is available in the PEZ.
Extra Life and the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals – Extra Life is a 24-hour gaming marathon that raises money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Every fall, gamers across the U.S. play board games, video games, card games and more for 24 hours in support of sick children and to raise money to support local hospitals. Planet Comicon Kansas City guests can signup online at extra-life.org or visit the Extra Life booth inside Planet Comicon!
