Planet Comicon Kansas City’s meteoric rise to the top of the pop culture world continues with attendees from 48 states during star-studded 2017 show
KANSAS CITY, MO – After soaring to new heights in 2016, Planet Comicon Kansas City wrapped three more days of superhuman fun, cosmic adventure, and unparalleled fandom during a 2017 convention that pushed Downtown Kansas City to the brink of an entirely new intergalactic stratosphere. With the biggest celebrity lineup in history, more cosplay than ever before and a comics creator lineup that featured some of the most storied names in the industry, Planet Comicon Kansas City proved why it is one of the nation’s favorite pop culture and comic book experiences.
Attendees from 48 different states and 13 countries enjoyed a guest lineup that featured Green Arrow himself Stephen Amell, Hellboy’s mystical hero Ron Perlman, master entertainer and actor John Barrowman and many more stars from television and film; comics legends including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles creator Kevin Eastman, the incomparable Chris Claremont (The Uncanny X-Men), Harley Quinn co-writers Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti; a GoComics.com Creator Showcase featuring Bill Amend (FoxTrot), Stephen Pastis (Pearls Before Swine), Sarah Andersen (Sarah’s Scribbles) and over two dozen other GoComics creators in the biggest and best event in GoComics history; the ever-popular Cosplay Contest that handed out over a dozen awards including 2017’s Best in Show winners Samantha Ybarra and Marie D’Angelo as characters from the popular video game Diablo III; the newly-created Planet Entertainment Zone full of interactive family fun; live professional wrestling from Kansas City’s National Wrasslin’ League; and 8-year-old Davey Uria blast off in a brand-new Star Wars Interdictor wheelchair costume courtesy of Walkin’ and Rollin’ Costumes to kickoff Planet Comicon’s three day extravaganza!
