KANSAS CITY, MO – Planet Comicon Kansas City will return to Bartle Hall on April 28-30, 2017.
The event is one of the nation’s largest comic book and pop culture expos. The 2016 show drew more than 70,000 attendees to downtown Kansas City. Fans of superheroes, science fiction, and fantasy gathered to collect celebrity autographs, meet comic book creators, explore vendor tables, participate in cosplay events, attend hundreds of hours of programming, and connect with fellow fans.
Guest announcements and ticketing details for 2017 will be announced in the coming weeks. “Planet Comicon Kansas City is all about the fans, and we’re planning the biggest, most exciting show ever for 2017,” said Planet Comicon CEO and Founder, Chris Jackson. “The challenge is always to top the previous year.”
Highlights from the 2016 show included a salute to Marvel pioneer Stan Lee during which Kansas City Mayor Sly James issued a proclamation designating “Stan Lee Day in Kansas City.” In addition, the world’s best pop culture writers and artists filled Bartle Hall with their diverse and impressive work; celebrities and special guests spent hours signing autographs and taking photos with their dedicated fans; and a couple celebrated their love for Planet Comicon Kansas City by getting married at the event to kickoff the convention weekend.
