Planet Comicon Kansas City soars to galactic new heights with over 70,000 attendees

Planet Comicon Kansas City celebrates a star-studded weekend as record number of attendees continue Planet Comicon’s rise to the top of the pop culture stratosphere

KANSAS CITY, MO – Planet Comicon Kansas City wrapped three days of intergalactic adventure, superhero fandom, cosplay, comics and countless smiles with the most successful event in its 17-year history. Over 70,000 attendees attended Planet Comicon Kansas City 2016, cementing the event’s reputation as one of the nation’s biggest and best pop culture and comic book conventions.

Guests came to Kansas City from all over the country to celebrate the career of Marvel pioneer Stan Lee, including Saturday’s designation by Kansas City Mayor Sly James that May 21, 2016 will forever be known as “Stan Lee Day in Kansas City.” The world’s best creators and artists filled Bartle Hall with their diverse and impressive work; celebrities and special guests spent hours signing autographs and taking photos with their dedicated fans; and a couple celebrated their love for Planet Comicon Kansas City by getting married at the event to kickoff the convention weekend.

“Planet Comicon Kansas City is about the fans and we couldn’t be happier with the way the show turned out this year,” said Planet Comicon CEO and Founder, Chris Jackson. “Planet Comicon Kansas City is an iconic annual event, attracting fans from all over the nation and we can’t thank the fans and attendees enough for their tremendous support. Every year we try to make it better for them. We’re ready to get to work on next year’s show.”
